About Carlene Maxie, LCSW
Carlene is a Navy Veteran retiring after completing a 30-year career. Carlene graduated from the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington, earning her Master of Social Work in 2021. She also earned a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Military Resilience in 2017 from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2010 from Columbia College of Missouri. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Carlene has experience serving clients in various therapeutic settings and incorporates the skills and experience she gained in the Navy toward her passion to “repower” individuals, couples, and families through a holistic and integrative approach to healing. Carlene specializes in working with adults, veterans, active-duty personnel, and first responders, who experience difficulties with navigating the trials of life, including trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, or substance use. Carlene integrates various theories when working with individuals; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered, as well as Solution-Focused Therapy.
Carlene and her husband are the proud parents of two adult children, and she is an active member and Elder within her local church.
